Pasadena Weekend: New Farmers’ Market, Outdoor Movie, Beer Garden Pop-Up

Pasadena is ripe with fun events for the first weekend of August, from a Pasadena Playhouse Cirque Variety Spectacular to a free Community Block Party and Resource Fair.

1. ROAD TO PALOOZA: A CIRQUE VARIETY SPECTACULAR debuts at the Pasadena Playhouse this weekend, with performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. “A modern day vaudeville, featuring artists such as 'The World’s Greatest Hula Hoop Artist,' awe-inspiring aerialists, a cacophony of clowns, marvelous magicians, a swingin' band and more!” the Playhouse notes on its website.

2. Float ice cream, soda and sandwich shop (380 S. Lake Ave) continues its free summer outdoor movie series with a showing of The Sandlot Saturday at 8 p.m. Attendees can purchase an accompanying themed ice cream float "The Great Bambino," which is aptly topped with a Baby Ruth candy bar.

3. Food, classic cars, a reggae band, kids entertainment, a giant slide, booths from local organizations and more will be at the free 14th annual Community Block Party and Resource Fair in Pasadena Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in the 500 block of Jackson Street.
