PCDA's Move-a-thon Brought Hundreds Together for an Active Family Fun Day

Families enjoyed adapted physical activities, food and entertainment

Professional Child Development Associates (PCDA) hosted its first-ever Move-A-Thon on Saturday, April 11, bringing hundreds of people together to enjoy adapted physical activities, food and entertainment. The event also raised more than $12,000 for the children and families at PCDA.

The inaugural Move-a-thon took place at Rose Bowl Brookside Park with more than 400 people of all ages and all abilities in attendance. Each child received a Move-a-thon passport when entering the event and collected a sticker for each activity they completed. Activities included an obstacle course, running clinic, dance, martial arts, yoga, bounce houses, golf, soccer, arts and crafts, Taiko drumming and more. There was entertainment throughout the day hosted by Vox DJ, along with performances by Revolution Dance Center, Club Aspire High Spirit Dance Group, California Academy of Martial Arts, JSPACC Kizuna Taiko and My Gym Children’s Fitness. Families enjoyed food from Pie ‘n Burger and Kona Ice as well as complimentary snacks and water provided by Whole Foods.

The event was attended by several local politicians and dignitaries including Pasadena mayoral candidate Terry Tornek, former Assemblymember Anthony Portantino, Councilwoman Liz Reilly, Hector Rodriguez from Assemblymember Chris Holden’s office, the Pasadena Fire Department and Lieutenant Mercado and Officer Arcand from the Pasadena Police Department. The fire department offered attendees a peek inside their fire truck and the police gave a short presentation on community safety with the help of their service dog Figo.
