Rose Bowl to Host Gold Cup Soccer Game

Countries from North and Central America will play in the Gold Cup tournament, and the Rose Bowl will be one of 14 venues.

PASADENA, CA -- The Rose Bowl will be one of 14 venues next year for a major soccer tournament featuring national teams from North and Central American and the Caribbean region, organizers announced Monday.

The Pasadena stadium will be one of five knockout round venues for the Gold Cup tournament presented by the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football.

The Rose Bowl, and Qualcomm Stadium are among 10 returning CONCACAF Gold Cup host venues. Two first-round matches will be played July 9 at Qualcomm Stadium. Mexico will be one of the four teams in San Diego.

Other host cities for the 12-team tournament, to be played July 7-26, include Santa Clara and Phoenix.

Canada, Curacao, French Guiana, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico and the U.S. are the countries that have qualified for the tournament so far.
