Scam: Man Posing as Boys & Girls Club Rep Asking for Money
The man has been spotted at a Pasadena Vons grocery store asking shoppers to purchase candy as part of a fundraising campaign for Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena and Boys & Girls Club of America.

The Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena issued a warning Wednesday about a scam that is targeting the non-profit organization.
A man posing as a Club member has been spotted selling candy outside the Vons grocery store at 155 West California Blvd. in Pasadena and telling shoppers it’s part of a fundraiser for Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena and Boys & Girls Club of America, Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena said in a statement Wednesday.
His last known unauthorized solicitation at the shopping center was Tuesday, April 9, at 4:30 p.m.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena does not have any Club members, staff, parents, or board members conducting any type of fundraising effort at this or any other site in Pasadena on behalf of our organization,” said President and CEO Rachel Estrada. “Shoppers who are approached by this person are asked to report the solicitation to store or property management.”
The person is described as a male black in his mid- to late-20s, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall, and weighing between 170- and 185-pounds.

The Boys & Girls Club has notified the Pasadena Police Department about the scam. If approached by this individual, shoppers are advised to avoid confrontation by politely declining and walking away, the Club said.
