Smoking Prohibited in Pasadena Multi-Unit Housing Beginning July 1

The provision stems from amendments made to the city's Tobacco Use Prevention Ordinance in 2011.

Pasadenans that live in condos, apartments and any housing with more than one unit won’t be able to legally smoke cigarettes at home starting July 1.

A provision of a law passed in August 2011 after the Pasadena City Council unanimously approved amending the City’s Tobacco Use Prevention Ordinance, it also prohibits smoking on multi-unit housing balconies or patios, according to the Pasadena Public Health Department.

Previous provisions of the new ordinance included prohibition of smoking in newly constructed units and in common areas of multi-unit housing, effective August 13, 2011.
