Tournament Of Roses Foundation Awards $230,000 To Local Groups

The funds were spread out among 27 groups in the San Gabriel Valley.

PASADENA, CA — The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Foundation announced Thursday it awarded more than $230,000 in grants to 27 community groups across the San Gabriel Valley.

Grants went to local groups that benefit children, teens, adults and older adults in the area. The foundation’s mission is “focused on positively impacting the Pasadena community with the charitable giving, volunteerism and community involvement,” according to a statement.

The foundation has distributed more than $3 million to community groups since its founding in 1983 as the charitable arm of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, which stages the Rose Parade every New Year’s Day.

Two Pasadena organizations this year were awarded the largest portion of the grant money.

The Fund for Partnership for Success received $35,000. The group is a partnership between private schools and the Pasadena Unified School District that provides summer enrichment programs for public school students to "realize their full academic and personal potential," according to its website.

STEAM:CODERS received $15,000. The group helps underrepresented and underserved members of the community gain access to essential technology such computers and provides them with learning resources and career opportunities, according to the organization’s mission statement.
