Man Killed In Pasadena Hit-and-Run

A man killed by a hit-and-run motorist who was later arrested was identified Monday as Anthony Miller, a 31-year-old Minnesota resident.

PASADENA, CA -- A man killed by a hit-and-run motorist who was later arrested has been identified as Minnesota resident Anthony Miller, 31, coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz said.

The suspect was identified as Higinio Arceo of Baldwin Park, 41, who was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, drunk driving and driving without a license, Pasadena Police Lt. Pete Hettema said.

The gray pickup truck was westbound on Colorado Boulevard, between Madison and El Molino avenues, when it struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, Hettema said. The pickup truck continued westbound on Colorado Boulevard.

The pedestrian now identified as Miller was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Officers canvassed the immediate area and a couple of officers spotted a gray/silver Chevrolet Silverado parked in an underground parking structure about four blocks away, Hettema said.

"Damage to the front of the vehicle was consistent with the crash," he said.

The registered owner of the Chevy was confirmed by telephone and Arceo, who was working at a nearby construction site, returned to the pickup truck, where he was interviewed by police, Hettema said. He was subsequently placed under arrest.
