Tree Fall Injures 3 Toddlers At Pasadena Day Care Center

A 2-year-old, 3-year-old and 4-year-old were taken to a nearby hospital Tuesday afternoon for treatment.

PASADENA, CA - Three young children were injured Tuesday when a tree fell on them at a Pasadena child development center. Most critically injured was a 2-year-old girl. Two other children, aged 3 and 4 years old, suffered minor injuries.

All three were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The tree reportedly toppled around noon at Linda Vista Children Center, 1250 Linda Vista Ave., said Lisa Derderian, of the Pasadena Fire Department. Details about how the incident occurred remained unclear around 1:30 p.m.

Linda Vista is a non-sectarian, nonprofit child development center that serves children from infancy through pre-kindergarten, according to its website. Children from six weeks old to five years old are accepted in both full-time and part-time programs.

"There is a fire station across the street from the children's center and firefighters arrived on scene about one minute after being dispatched, according to Derderian, who said it was lunchtime when the youngsters were injured," reported the City News Service.

In 2015, a tree fell on a group of children at nearby Kidspace Children's Museum, critically injuring two children and causing minor injuries to several others.
