Parmageddon: Whole Foods to Attempt Cheese World Record
Whole Foods will attempt Saturday to crack the most number of Parmigiano Reggiano wheels at one time. Free samples to follow.
Whole Foods will try to earn a cheesy place in the Guinness Book of World Records Saturday and you’re invited to partake of the glory in Pasadena.
At noon, Whole Foods stores across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom—including the Pasadena Whole Foods Market on Arroyo Parkway—will count down to cracking 400 wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano simultaneously at an event dubbed "Parmageddon."

A free tasting will follow the action in case you care to help devour the freshly cut 82-pound dairy discs.
As an added bonus, two Specialty Team Members at the Arroyo Parkway Whole Foods will compete to see who can crack a wheel of Parm faster, the Pasadena store shared on its facebook page.

Whole Foods set a new record in 2008 for Most Parmesan Wheels Cracked Simultaneously with almost 300 wheels of cheese. They increased the number and held the title every year until 2012, when a Canadian grocery store chain cracked open 378 wheels, Whole Foods shared on its blog.
