2 Arrested With Large Amount Of Fentanyl In Petaluma: PD

PETALUMA, CA — Two men from Redding were arrested with a large quantity of fentanyl early Tuesday morning in Petaluma, police said.

Officers spotted the men — later identified as 28-year-old Gerald Clinton Strong III and 34-year-old Joshua James Jens — sleeping in a car around 3 a.m. parked along a fenceline in the 4000 block of Petaluma Boulevard North.

Police said various drugs and drug paraphernalis were in plain view in the car, a blue Chrysler 300 sedan with a California license plate number that was reported stolen out of Northern California.

After a search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of fentanyl, Strong and Jens were arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Jail records Tuesday evening indicated they were no longer in custody.
