2 Fatal Crashes Reported On Highway 12 In Sonoma County
The California Highway Patrol responded to two separate fatal collisions Monday morning on state Highway 12.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The California Highway Patrol responded to two separate fatal crashes Monday morning on state Highway 12 near Santa Rosa.
Two people — and mother and daughter from Sonoma— died in the first crash which was reported at 8:19 a.m. on eastbound SR-12 just west of Oakmont Drive east of Santa Rosa.

The other, unrelated fatal crash was reported four minutes later on westbound SR-12 just west of Merced Avenue west of Santa Rosa, according to the CHP. The collision involved four vehicles and left the entire roadway blocked. A Sig-alert was issued just before 9 a.m., with the highway closed at Irwin Lane.
As of 11 a.m., 511SFBay reported all lanes of Highway 12 remained closed in both directions between Llano and Merced Avenues west of Santa Rosa.

"Motorists are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes to avoid the area," 511SFBay reported. "There is no estimated time to reopen the roadway."
However, CHP reported shortly after 11 a.m. that state Highway 12 had reopened at the scene of the first crash west of Oakmont Drive near Pythian Road in Santa Rosa.
