SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A big rig crashed and hit a guardrail, then landed in the dirt early Tuesday morning on Lakeville Highway southeast of Petaluma, the California Highway Patrol reported.

At 4:45 a.m., the CHP got word of the incident at 6157 Lakeville Highway, near Old Lakeville No. 2 Road. The semi-truck's trailer was completely off the roadway and lanes would need to be shut down when the big rig was towed, CHP dispatchers reported.

The other vehicle involved in the collision — possibly a white Yukon SUV— landed in a ditch but no injuries reported, the CHP said.
