Drought Drop By: Water-Saving Kits For Petaluma Households
The Drought Drop By is an upcoming event in Petaluma and neighboring cities throughout three counties.

PETALUMA, CA — Water customers in Petaluma and throughout the North Bay are invited to pick up a free water-saving kit during a three-county "Drought Drop By" event Saturday, June 12.
With the Russian River watershed in a historic drought after the region experienced the third-driest water year in over 127 years, Sonoma Water and its partners in the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership say every drop saved helps maintain water flows in the Russian River and extends reservoir storage levels.
The Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership is a collaborative of the following utilities: The cities of Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Sonoma, Cotati, Healdsburg; Marin Water, North Marin Water District, Valley of the Moon Water District; Town of Windsor, California American Water – Larkfield and Geyserville, and Sonoma Water.

The Water Advisory Committee to the Sonoma County Water Agency (Sonoma Water) and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors have adopted a resolution calling for 20 percent voluntary water conservation. Directors of the Marin Municipal Water District have adopted mandatory restrictions aimed at achieving 40 percent water-use reductions.
"The Drought Drop By event is a great way to get water-saving tools into our community’s hands," said Jennifer Burke, director of Santa Rosa Water. "To achieve necessary water savings, we all need to take action now by eliminating water waste and adopting water-smart habits, like shortening showers and reducing your irrigation, or achieving permanent savings by installing water-efficient devices.
