Elderly Motorist Accidently Backs Vehicle Into His Wife in Driveway

The wife sustained minor injuries

A woman was injured Thursday afternoon when her husband accidentally struck her with his vehicle in the driveway of their home in Petaluma, police said.

Ronald Sartini, 75, was parked in the driveway of the residence in the 100 block of Creekside Drive around 3:15 p.m., police said.

The vehicle was facing the street and Sartini thought the vehicle was in drive when he pressed the gas pedal, police said.

The vehicle actually was in reverse, and the car struck his 72-year-old wife Sylvia Sartini, who was standing behind the vehicle with the garage door open, police said.

The collision knocked her to the ground. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.
