Free Rides To Vaccination Sites Offered By Local Transit Agencies

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Santa Rosa CityBus, Sonoma County Transit and Petaluma Transit on Monday started offering free transit and paratransit transportation systemwide for anyone traveling to or from a city or county COVID-19 vaccination site.

By providing these free rides, the transit operators hope to remove financial and transportation-related barriers many residents may face in accessing vaccinations.

Passengers must show proof of a vaccination appointment for that day, in print or on their mobile device, when boarding.

Both Santa Rosa CityBus and Santa Rosa Paratransit serve vaccination sites within the city limits. CityBus recently added a direct shuttle service providing an easy connection from the downtown transit mall to the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Grace Pavilion vaccination site.

Health and safety precautions designed to slow the spread remain in place for all forms of transportation offered by Sonoma County local transit agencies. The precautions apply to all riders and operators and include wearing a face covering, practicing safe social distancing, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of vehicles, and frequent handwashing.

Suspension of fares for trips to vaccination appointments remains in effect until further notice.
