Mountain Lion Sightings Confirmed Overnight In Petaluma: Police
Authorities are monitoring the lion's movements. Anyone who sees the lion should NOT approach it but should call 911, police said.
PETALUMA, CA — A mountain lion has been making its way through Petaluma since Tuesday night, and police urged caution as emergency personnel continued to monitor the lion's movements Wednesday morning.
The Petaluma Police Department first alerted the community about the mountain lion's presence at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday when a mountain lion sighting was confirmed east of U.S. Highway 101 and south of Corona Road.
Police advised the public to use caution in the area.

In an update around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said the animal was now west of Hill Boulevard.
"Emergency personnel are in the area, and monitoring the mountain lion's movement westward," police said. "If you see the mountain lion, do NOT approach the animal and call 911."

Police sent another update just after 7:45 a.m. Wednesday to say the mountain lion was last seen in the hillside beyond Hayes Lane.
"If seen again in residential areas, please contact Petaluma Police Department. Always use caution around wildlife and do not approach."
No further updates were provided Wednesday by Petaluma police.
