SONOMA and MARIN COUNTIES, CA — Area residents are encouraged to help celebrate on Wednesday the completion a bike path and high-occupancy vehicle lane in the North Bay, Caltrans said. The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. at the southern end of Petaluma Boulevard South just east of the San Antonio Creek Bridge.

Local, state and federal officials will be on hand to celebrate the completion and opening of a bike path connecting Marin and Sonoma counties and a northbound U.S Highway 101 high-occupancy vehicle.

Before the project was completed, the most direct way for bicyclists to get from Novato to Petaluma was to ride on the shoulders of Highway 101.
