Petaluma Man Drowns In Russian River
He was swimming with family members but they became separated; when they found him, he was not breathing, the sheriff's office said.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A young Petaluma man died Sunday in what appears to have been an accidental drowning in the Russian River, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were dispatched at about 7:10 p.m. Sunday to the 21000 block of River Road in Geyserville; as they were en route to the reported drowning, emergency personnel with Geyserville Fire Department and Bell's Ambulance arrived at the scene and began life-saving efforts, said sheriff's Spokeswoman Misti Wood.
The emergency personnel, however, were not able to revive the man, Wood said.
Angel Cendon-Hernandez, 24 years old, was pronounced deceased by a paramedic at the scene, Wood said.

Deputies determined Cendon-Hernandez was swimming in the river with family members but became separated from them. His family found him a short time later but he was not breathing so they attempted CPR, called 911 and drove to find help, Wood said.
"The Coroner's Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death," Wood said Monday afternoon. "However, it appears that Mr. Cendon-Hernandez accidentally drowned. We send our condolences to Mr. Cendon-Hernandez‘s family and friends."
