Petaluma Police Arrest Burglary Suspect

A man was arrested on suspicion of stealing items from a business after the establishment's alarm system alerted police.

PETALUMA, CA — Police arrested a man on suspicion of burglary after he was found inside a closed business on Thursday night, the Petaluma Police Department said.

Officers arrived at DeWeyl Tool Inc. in Petaluma around 10:30 p.m. after an alarm was activated. Police saw a light on and a suspect inside the business walking around.

A man, whom officers identified as Anthony Smith, was ordered to exit the building and complied with officers. He was found to have property belonging to the business, police said.

Police believe Smith removed the screen from a window and climbed inside.

He was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of burglary and violation of his probation, officers said.
