Pickpocketing On The Rise In Petaluma, Police Warn
Reports of pickpocketing in local retail centers prompted a warning from the Petaluma Police Department.
PETALUMA, CA — There have been several reports of pickpocketing in Petaluma retail centers, prompting police to issue a warning Wednesday.
Police reminded members of the public to always keep an eye on their valuables — especially purses, wallets and cellphones — while shopping.
When out in the community, people should not leave valuables unattended in their shopping carts or hand-held shopping baskets, or in plain view in their cars, police said. Further, people should make sure their purse, backpack or bag is securely closed or zipped to reduce the chances of being pickpocketed.
