Police Arrest 19 in DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoints
Two checkpoints Friday night and Saturday morning resulted in three DUI arrests and 16 suspended or unlicensed drivers cited.

Three drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, and 16 drivers were cited for driving without a license or with a suspended license during two traffic checkpoints conducted by Petaluma police Friday night and Saturday morning.
Those arrested for DUI were Scott Ross, 50; Pedro Vega Morales, 42; and Pedro J. Caballeropintos, 34; all Petaluma residents, Srgt. Ken Savano said in a press release.

The first checkpoint was northbound on Ely Blvd. South at Spoonbill from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.:
- 327 vehicles passed through the checkpoint
- 319 drivers were screened by officers for signs of DUI or license violations
- 13 drivers were sent into a secondary evaluation area for further investigation
- 7 drivers were arrested
- 1 drivers were arrested for DUI
- 1 drivers were arrested and cited for driving on a suspended license
- 5 drivers were arrested and cited for driving without a license
- 1 driver was cited for a provisional license violation for having passengers
- 0 vehicle was impounded for 30 days
The second checkpoint was eastbound on East Washington Street at Lakeville Street between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.:

- 435 vehicles passed through the checkpoint
- 427 drivers were screened by officers for signs of DUI or license violations
- 43 drivers were sent into a secondary evaluation area for further investigation
- 12 drivers were arrested
- 2 driver was arrested for DUI
- 3 drivers were arrested and cited for driving on a suspended license
- 7 drivers were arrested and cited for driving without a license
- 0 vehicles were impounded for 30 days
