Sonoma County Jail Inmate Dies At Hospital

The inmate was being treated at a local hospital for a pre-existing condition.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Sonoma County jail inmate died Saturday at a local hospital. The inmate was admitted to the hospital Tuesday, Feb. 25 for a pre-existing condition, Sonoma County sheriff's Sgt. Juan Valencia said in a news release.

The inmate, identified as 56-year-old Salvador Jimenez of Santa Rosa, was booked into the Main Adult Detention Facility in Santa Rosa Jan. 22 on suspicion of DUI as well as other pending charges, Valencia said.

Jimenez died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, Valencia said.
