Storms Bring Small Hail Threat To Sonoma County, Bay Area
The National Weather Service has some advice for driving on hail-covered roads.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — There is a small hail threat Tuesday lasting into Wednesday for the San Francisco Bay Area, including in Sonoma County, according to the National Weather Service.
In the event there is hail on roadways, motorists should slow down and turn on their headlights, the weather service said.
"Dark clouds are your clue that small hail may be falling," the weather service said. "If you drive on a hail-covered road do not slam on the brakes. Ease off the gas pedal and avoid quickly turning the steering wheel or overcorrecting."

Midweek Storms, SF Bay Area
"Chances of thunderstorms will increase Tuesday with the potential for small hail, infrequent lightning, gusty winds and brief heavy downpours. Snow levels will also begin to lower to around 3,000 feet with the possibility of accumulating snowfall in the region’s higher peaks/ ridges. Rainfall amounts will vary widely due to the convective nature of this weather system. However, look for totals through midweek of 1 to 2 inches in the coastal mountains with one-quarter to three-quarter inch elsewhere. Isolated amounts in excess of 2 inches will be possible within heavier showers and/or thunderstorms."
The rainy weather is forecast to subside Wednesday night.
