SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Wednesday night in Annapolis, an unincorporated community in Sonoma County, for allegedly threatening to kill a deputy, sheriff's officials said.

Edgar Figueroa-Garcia, 35, allegedly made numerous threats about killing Deputy Greg Myers that go back to Aug. 28, the day that the deputy had Figueroa-Garcia's backhoe towed.

Figueroa-Garcia apparently had parked the backhoe on someone else's property and blocked a driveway on Aug. 27.

Over the previous three months, numerous people apparently called to say that Figueroa-Garcia was trespassing on private property. He also was allegedly seen trespassing on an all-terrain vehicle with a rifle.

Sheriff's officials allege that on Sunday they learned that Figueroa-Garcia had been telling other residents that he was going to kill Myers. Sheriff's officials said the following day more than one community member confirmed that Figueroa-Garcia made the threats.

Deputies began a search for Figueroa-Garcia and obtained a warrant for domestic battery, criminal death threats and false imprisonment.

Tuesday night, someone called the sheriff's office and alleged Figueroa-Garcia left his home in the 40000 block of Annapolis Road with a gun and was heading to Myers' home.

Deputies searched for Figueroa-Garcia but did not find him. The search continued overnight and on Wednesday.

At about 4:30 p.m. deputies arrived at Figueroa-Garcia's home.

They spoke with his girlfriend, Luta Pittman who said he was not there, said Misti Wood, the sheriff's community engagement liaison.

About 10 minutes later deputies saw Figueroa-Garcia inside the home. Deputies ordered him out on a loudspeaker. He walked out and was arrested.

Sheriff's officials allege that as Figueroa-Garcia was being arrested he continued to make threats toward Myers. Pittman was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory by helping Figueroa-Garcia hide.

Figueroa-Garcia was being held in custody on $630,000 bail. Pittman was being held on $10,000 bail, sheriff's officials said.
