71-Year-Old Beat Up and Robbed: Police Log

A fake gun that looked real, burglaries, and a Porsche with four-years-expired registration all on the Hercules police blotter May 2.

HERCULES, CA- Here is the Hercules Police Department activity log for Monday, May 2.

Resisting, Delaying, or Obstructing a Peace Officer: On May 2, 2016 at 8:50 a.m. an Officer checked on an unoccupied vehicle, parked in front of Starbucks, 3700 San Pablo Ave. The Gray ’01 Porsche Boxster (No Plates) had expired registration, as of July 2013, with no fees paid since 2012. There were also 15 unpaid parking citations attached to the registration. While the officer was checking the vehicle he was confronted by the registered owner. The Officer explained why he was investigating the vehicle and told the owner the vehicle was going to be towed for no registration. The owner became agitated and upset. He pointed his finger in the Officer’s face and refused verbal commands to step back from Officers. The owner continued to be agitated and point his finger in Officer’s faces. Officers arrested 32 year old Patrick Holmes Jr. for Obstructing a Police Investigation. Holmes resisted arrest by attempting to pull away from Officers. During an inventory search of the vehicle, Officers found a Black BB Pistol concealed inside a Black jacket. The BB Pistol was found to be modeled after a Beretta semi-auto Pistol. Holmes Jr. was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest/Possession of Stolen Property: On May 2, 2016 at 10:02 a.m. Hercules Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Thistle Ct. for a report of a restraining order violation in progress. The reporting party said the suspect was asleep in her daughter’s Gray Buick. Dispatch advised the suspect had an outstanding Felony No Bail Warrant for Robbery and Burglary. The reporting party said the suspect is the father of her Grandchild and the Restraining order prevented him from being at her house. Officers located the vehicle parked on Daisy Ct. at Thistle Ct. 25 year old Brandon Jackson as he was seated in the driver’s seat. He was arrested for the Warrant issued on 04/25/2016, held by El Cerrito P.D. The restraining order was determined to have expired in 2015. An Officer did a consent search of the vehicle and located several new tools (still in their boxes, with barcodes), in the trunk, which were later determined to be stolen from the Home Depot in El Cerrito and Hercules. Jackson was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Residential Burglary (Interrupted): On May 2, 2016 at 10:12 a.m. Hercules Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Swallow Way for a residential burglary in progress. The reporting party stated an unknown male came into her house. Officer were updated indicated the burglary occurred 20 minutes earlier. The reporting party described the suspect as a Caucasian male; approximately 20-25 years old; 6’00”, 180 lbs.; Dark Brown or Black Hair (Long straight shaggy hair); wearing a Black jacket (Derby style), and Blue jeans. The suspect fled, in an unknown direction, from the residence. The reporting party said she was upstairs when she heard the front door being opened. She walked down the stairs and confronted the suspect as he was going up the stairs. The suspect ran back down the stairs, exiting through the front door. Officers did not find any damage consistent with the door being forced open. An area check was done for the suspect, but he was not located.

Petty Theft: On May 2, 2016 at 12:56 p.m. an Officer was dispatched to a lobby detail regarding a theft from an unlocked vehicle. A resident from the 1200 block of Canterbury St said unknown suspects stole items from his wife’s locked Gray ’13 Honda Odyssey mini-van between 5:40 – 5:44 a.m. this morning. The reporting party said he had surveillance video footage showing two White Male Juvenile suspects stealing items from the minivan. The reporting party said he didn’t want prosecution and only wanted the incident documented.

Commercial Burglary: On May 2, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. an Officer was dispatched, to 200 block of Linus Pauling Drive, to the Security Office of Bio-Rad. The officer met with the Security staff and was directed to a storage container located to the rear of the 4000 Alfred Nobel building. The storage container has a roll up door and the lock was cut off by an unknown suspect at 3:30 p.m. yesterday. Nothing was removed or stolen by the unknown suspect. Video surveillance footage of the burglary showing an unknown race male, exiting a White Dodge Pick-up truck, cut the lock off the roll up door of the storage container.

Vandalism: On May 2, 2016 at 10:11 PM Hercules units were dispatched to Woodfield at Williams for several loud bangs that sounded as if someone was trying to kick in a front door. The reporting party stated he saw three subjects run from the front yard in the 100 block of Woodfield and get info a small dark sedan. The subjects then fled the area. The officer observed the residence’s side windows’ outer pane was broken in a couple of different spots.

Criminal Threats and Battery: On May 2, 2016 at 10:32 PM Hercules officers were dispatched to an attempt robbery in the 300 block of North Wildwood. An officer contacted the 71 year old male victim. He stated he parked his GMC pick-up on Forest Run and was walking home. When he reached the sidewalk below his residence he heard a subject run up behind him and he was tackled from behind. They both fell into the ivy and rolled down the hill. The suspect make verbal threats, before getting up and running away.

Auto Burglary: On May 2, 2016 at 10:42 PM an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Apollo for a cold auto burglary. The reporting party stated he parked and locked his car 2011 Mazda 3 at 9:00 PM. When he checked his car at 10:30 PM he found the driver’s door ajar and the window smashed. Missing from the interior was his wallet and Garmin GPS.
