9 Year Old San Pablo Girl Identified As Crash Victim
The girl was riding in a car that was sandwiched between two others on I-680 last Friday.
ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA - A girl who was killed in a collision on Interstate Highway 680 near Sunol early Friday morning was identified by the Alameda County coroner today as 9-year-old Alma Aguilar Alvarez of San Pablo.
Alma was a passenger in a 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by her father that was rear-ended by the driver of a black 2009 Dodge as both cars were traveling north on Highway 680 south of Calaveras Road when traffic began to slow approaching a construction zone at about 12:20 a.m. Friday, California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Tyler Hahn said.
The collision pushed the Toyota into the rear of a Ford, according to Hahn.

Alma and her father were transported to Eden Hospital Medical Center in Castro Valley, where she was pronounced dead.
The girl's father suffered major injuries and is still hospitalized, Hahn said. The girl's mother suffered minor injuries and has been treated and released.

The occupants of the other vehicles weren't injured in the collision.
Hahn said it doesn't appear that alcohol and drugs were factors in the collision.
He said the investigation into the fatal collision will continue for several weeks, but at this time it doesn't appear that the Dodge driver who rear-ended the Toyota will face any charges.
