Contra Costa County Public Library: Library News For March

See the latest announcement from the Contra Costa County Public Library.

March 3, 2021

It is hard to believe, but this month marks a year since our libraries closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To mark this milestone, I’d like to draw your attention to the Library staff who have worked as disaster service workers (DSWs). Did you know that in total, 76 Library staff have worked as DSWs in roles including call center, contact tracing, emergency operations, and donation collection? Fourteen library employees are still serving Contra Costa County as DSWs for going on nearly 10 months. As we continue to deal with the COVID-19 emergency, DSWs are a vital part of the County’s efforts to support the needs of the community. The work is challenging on many levels and for that reason I am immensely proud that they are contributing their talents and skills to make Contra Costa safe and healthy again. We miss having them in the libraries and we know they are looking forward to coming back to serve all of you when the pandemic is more under control.
