Hercules PD Watch Commander's Report

A jealous step-cousin pulls a gun and more from the Hercules Police Department blotter.

The following police blotter items are selected and written by the Hercules Police Department. 

Residential Fire: On Sept. 27 at 2:20 p.m., dispatch received an emergency call from Moraine Court, which appeared to be medical in nature. An officer responded to the residence and updated dispatch there was a fire in the residence and the two residents had sustained major burns. The fire, which appeared to have been caused by an electric fan in the master bedroom, was quickly extinguished by the Fire Department. Both residents sustained major burns to their hands and feet. The 54 year old resident was transported by AMR to a local hospital. Her 21 year old son, whose injuries were more serious, was airlifted to another local hospital.

Resisting Arrest and Probation Violation: On Sept. 27 at about 9:53 p.m., an officer attempted to initiate a traffic enforcement stop on a 1996 Mitsubishi Gallant on Dover at Chelsea. The Mitsubishi turned onto Chelsea and came to a stop. The driver, who was later identified as 27 year old Damaria Dellray Moore of Oakland, immediately fled on foot and jumped over the retaining wall behind Club 44. Per two citizens in the area, Moore was last seen at the rear of the 76 gas station asking for a ride. A perimeter was established and a K-9 Officer was requested. Pinole’s K-9 Officer responded but did not locate Moore. Moore was determined to have a warrant for evading police in a vehicle, resisting arrest, and child endangerment. An additional case has been taken against Moore and efforts continue to locate him.

Identity Theft: On Sept. 28 a resident from the 100 block of Dartford reported being a victim of identity theft. The victim reported fraudulent use of his Bank of America debit card information to make purchases over the internet.

Vacant House:  On Sept. 28 at 9:19 p.m. Hercules officers were dispatched to the area of Redwood Rd. at Beechnut Dr. for a vacant house with juveniles inside having a party. Officers located the house in the 100 block of Beechnut Drive. After making contact at the front door, with a juvenile, a large group of other juveniles fled from the backyard. The house was found to be vacant with home repairs left unfinished. After the party dispersed the residence was secured. Hercules Code Enforcement was notified.

Warrant Arrest:  On Sept. 28 at 9:37 p.m. Hercules Officers contacted 29 year old Tedros Yohannes of Hercules in the 2300 block of Redwood Rd.  Yohannes was cited and released on an outstanding Misdemeanor Warrant for being drunk in public. There was no new violation of the law.

Runaway Juvenile:  On Sept. 28 at 11:42 p.m. a juvenile group home counselor, from Hawk Court, called to report a runaway juvenile. The 16-year-old juvenile reportedly told the counselor he was going to attend the Hercules High School Football Game. However, there was no Hercules High School Football game scheduled. He was entered into the missing persons system.

Mental Health Evaluation: On Sept. 29 at 12:25 a.m. a resident called to report that her 12-year-old son was out of control and wants to kill himself. The resident also stated her son was also “tearing the house up.”  Hercules Officers responded to Sparrow Drive and contacted the juvenile. The juvenile stated he wanted to harm himself and he was subsequently transported to CCRMC by AMR for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation.

Theft: On Sept. 29 at 6:26 p.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of Bonaire for a report of a theft of running boards from a vehicle. The victim stated that sometime last night, someone stole the side running boards off his Toyota Sienna. This case is under investigation.

Brandishing of a Firearm and Criminal threats:  Sept. 29 at 10:35 p.m., an Oakland resident was walking to the bus stop on Willow Avenue, when a gold colored Chevrolet Tahoe stopped on Willow Avenue at Sycamore Avenue. A male got out of the driver’s seat of the Tahoe. As the subject walked towards him he recognized him as his step-cousin 29-year-old Johnny Jones Jr. Jones walked to within five feet of the victim and produced a silver and black semi-automatic pistol. Jones pointed the gun at the victim’s face. Jones stated that he was going to kill him and then began laughing. Jones then re-entered his vehicle and continued west on Sycamore Ave. The victim believes he cousin may have threatened him because he has recently become successful in the music business.

Domestic Dispute: On Sept. 30 at about 1:06 p.m., Officers responded to the area of Orion Court for a verbal dispute. Upon arrival the involved parties were located in two separate areas in the complex. Both stated that they had a verbal argument and neither had any visible injuries or wanted any further assistance. Both are associated with a residence in the 800 block of Orion Court and have been involved in multiple domestic disputes. No further police action was taken.
