Hercules Woman Identified As Crash Victim

PINOLE AND HERCULES, CA — A pedestrian who died Monday morning when she was struck by a vehicle in unincorporated Contra Costa County near Pinole has been identified this morning by the county coroner's office as 34-year-old Hercules woman Melinda Cantu.

The collision was first reported to the California Highway Patrol at 6:12 a.m. on eastbound San Pablo Avenue just west of Tara Hills Drive.

Cantu died at the scene, CHP Officer Matthew Hamer said.
