How to Hand Deliver Your Vote-by-Mail Ballot in CoCo County

The Contra Costa County Registrar of Voters office will be open between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday to accept vote-by-mail ballots that didn't make it to the mailbox in time. 

A postmark indicating the ballot was sent before Tuesday does not constitute a valid ballot, according to State election laws.  Vote-by-mail ballots turned in at the polls get counted after all other ballots.

Voters can drop off ballots on Saturday, Monday or Tuesday at the registrar’s office at 555 Escobar Street in Martinez. Vote-by-mail ballots can be dropped off also at polling places on Tuesday until polls close at 8 p.m.

The Registrar also reminds vote-by-mail voters to sign their name in the signature box on the back of the ballot envelope.  Voters should not sign the actual ballot.  

People going to the polls to vote should check their sample ballot to find the address of their polling place.  Some polling places have changed since last election. Voters can also look up their polling place here.
