
SAN PABLO, CA - A man who died when his car slowed or stopped and then was struck from behind on Interstate Highway 80 in San Pablo early Wednesday morning has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 69-year-old Sacramento resident Conrad Martin.
The crash happened around 3:50 a.m. on westbound Highway 80 near San Pablo Dam Road.
Martin's Kia Optima slowed or stopped in the lane next to the passing lane and was rear-ended by a Dodge Ram truck, California Highway Patrol Officer Sean Wilkenfeld said.

Martin was unresponsive when CHP officers arrived, Wilkenfeld said.
A cause of death has not been determined by the coroner's office, which will perform an autopsy on Martin today.

The driver of the Dodge Ram is cooperating with the investigation and the CHP has determined that the driver wasn't under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Wilkenfeld said. The Ram driver wasn't injured.
