Motorcyclist Killed In Highway 4 Crash ID'd

The crash impacted Monday's morning commute.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A motorcyclist killed Monday morning on state Highway 4 in Contra Costa County has been identified as 61-year-old James Woods Jr. from Rio Vista, according to the county coroner's office.

Woods was headed west just before 8 a.m. when he rear-ended a vehicle near Loveridge Road and the border between Pittsburg and Antioch.

Investigators say he was thrown from his motorcycle and subsequently struck by a big-rig. The other drivers remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.

The crash blocked four lanes of traffic, but the roadway had reopened by about 10:35 a.m.
