CONTRA COSTA COUNTY — A PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff that had been planned in Contra Costa on Wednesday has been cancelled, the company announced on Tuesday.

The power company says that the weather forecast has changed, making the shutoff unnecessary.
It was planned originally because the company feared high winds predicted for midweek would pose a wildfire safety hazard with the company's power lines and other equipment.

In Contra Costa County, the outage was expected to impact 23,230 customers in Canyon, El Sobrante, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Pinole, Pleasant Hill and Richmond.
