Pinole Valley High Girls Basketball Brings Home Hornet Invitational Win

The Spartans played in the Alameda High tournament over the weekend.

The Pinole Valley High Girls basketball players are all smiles this week after traveling to Alameda High School for the 22nd annual Hornet Invitational. The ladies beat Windsor High on Thursday, were given a semifinal date against California High of San Ramon and beat Cal High on Friday. Saturday night the Spartans were put up against Montgomery of Santa Rosa for the title.

Trailing by ten in the fourth quarter, the girls went on a 23-9 blitz and buried the Montgomery team 49-41 in a thriller, according to Pinole Valley High Principal Kibby Kleiman.

“Great wins and great start of the season, five in a row, and 5-1 overall,” Kleiman said. “Big hand for the hard work and cool under pressure. Warriors’ streak is over, Spartans’ are just beginning...”
