Police Seek Man Who Allegedly Assaulted Hercules Teen
Suspect reportedly took victim's phone.

Police are seeking a suspect who tried to take the phone of a 15-year-old as the juvenile was waiting for a bus in Hercules last week.
At 3:17 p.m. last Wednesday, the youth was waiting at a bus stop near San Pablo Avenue and Victoria Crescent West when two people
approached him, according to police. One of the suspects asked the teen if he could borrow his cellphone to make a phone call, police said. The teen agreed and handed his phone to the suspect. The suspect made two phone calls, after which he then told thevictim “this phone is now taken,” according to police.
The second person who was with the suspect advised the suspect to give the victim his phone back, police said. The victim grabbed his phone out of the suspect’s hand and the suspect then punched the victim in the chest, according to police.

After a brief struggle, the victim was able to gain possession of his cellphone and both the suspect and his friend fled on foot, heading north, police said. The victim boarded a bus and reported the incident about 10 minutes later. Officers searched the area but could not locate the suspect.
Police described the suspect as a black man in his 20s, wearing a black baseball cap, a dark denim jacket, a black shirt with white vertical stripes and dark denim pants.
