Safeway Opening New Hercules Store, Renovating 20 Others

HERCULES, CA — Supermarket chain Safeway is opening a new location in Hercules this year, one of four new stores set to open in the region, the Mercury News reported.

Safeway will also renovate 20 existing Bay Area markets this year, the company said.

The Hercules store will be built at the former BART park-and-ride lot at the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and John Muir Parkway, according to the Mercury News.

The other stores expected to open in 2020 are in San Jose, San Francisco and El Dorado Hills.
