Shelter-In-Place Order Lifted In Pinole Neighborhood: Police
BREAKING: Police ordered residents to lock down in the "nearest place of safety" early Monday.
PINOLE, CA — A lockdown order early Monday morning for residents along Kildare Way in Pinole was lifted after a suspect peacefully surrendered and was taken into custody, the Pinole Police Department said.
The incident began around 10:30 p.m. Sunday when a woman called police to report her 32-year-old son — his name was not disclosed — was making delusional statements and there was a gun in the house.
Police said neighbors also reported hearing gunshots coming from the house in the 700 block of Marlesta Road.

Officers spoke with the woman outside her house. Her son had left the residence by that time but officers found a pit bull fatally shot inside the home.
Around 2:10 a.m., officers finally spotted the man driving near San Pablo Avenue and Sunnyview Drive. He ran from the car and hid and jumped behind cars to elude officers.

While a negotiating team communicated with him in person and by cell phone, a shelter-in-place was ordered.
Just before 6 a.m. Monday, Pinole police said residents on Kildare Way between Marlesta Road and Kilkenney Way should stay indoors until further notice because of unspecified law enforcement activity.
"People who are on Kildare Way between Marlesta Road and Tara Hills Drive and on Barkley Court are advised to lockdown in the nearest place of safety," the order stated. "Go inside, and close and lock all windows and doors. Stay off the phone and do not call 911 unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency."
Nearby schools, Shannon Elementary, Tara Hills Elementary, and Pinole Middle closed for in-person instruction for the day.
The shelter-in-place order was lifted around 9:30 a.m. when the man surrendered.
Police said he never made any threats and he discarded two guns before he was safely taken into custody.
