Toddler Who Drowned In East Bay Pool ID'd

ANTIOCH, CA — A toddler who drowned Friday evening in an Antioch swimming pool has been identified as Mateo Luna, who was nearly 2 years old.

Luna, an Antioch resident, was pulled out of the pool in the 3000 block of North Francisco Way around 7:30 p.m.

Emergency crews attempted to revive the child but he was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Investigators say the drowning was an accident, but additional details about the events that led up to the child's death have not yet been released.
