Dawn Zwibel Distinguishes Herself as Proud Principal of Top School
Prime Poway Woman No. 29 says gaining job Chaparral Elementary was among top career moments.

Dawn Zwibel said she is the proud principal of Chaparral Elementary School, and the community is proud to have her, too.
Zwibel is active in all parts of the Chaparral community and volunteers with her local church. She also does homeless outreach in downtown San Diego.
She said her role in Poway is what she is most proud of.

“Becoming a PUSD principal was one of the proudest moments in my career,” she said. “I am so blessed to be a part of the Chaparral community. Most recently, being named a California Distinguished School was a tremendous accomplishment to be proud of!
“The Chaparral staff, children, parents, and community partners pulled together to show just how special we are, and the many ways we touch children’s lives every single day.”

Zwibel—who enjoys spending time with her large family during her spare time—said she looks up to her mother the most.
“She comes from a family of 13, and has always been someone that I admire,” she said. “She is a strong woman who is a phenomenal mother, loving wife (married 40 years) and outstanding business woman.”
What does Women’s History Month mean to you?
“Women’s History month gives us all an opportunity to commemorate the women in history who have paved the way for our freedom and rights. I am reminded of the brave women who fight for our country and am in awe of their courage and sacrifice.
“Women’s History Month reminds me of the hardships of the women who came before me, and serves as a continued reminder that in honor of their memory, we should continue their legacy!”
