Hi Powegians!
My name is Melissa Phy (rhymes with “why,” and begins with an “f” sound). I’m happy to announce that I’m your new local editor.
Shauntel is still here, not only helping me get acquainted with Poway, but producing great content for numerous Patches, including yours, Ramona, Rancho Bernardo, La Jolla and Del Mar-Carmel Valley. You can still reach her at shauntel.lowe@patch.com.

I’ve been with Patch for almost three years: I was a freelancer with the company, and then contracted as the events editor for San Diego County. Nearly a year ago, I became local editor of Ramona Patch, your lovely neighbors to the East.
My new role will have me covering both Ramona and Poway—two communities I feel are similar in many ways (hello, horses and hiking trails!), yet each has their own issues and character.

Since taking over Ramona Patch last July, I’ve grown a deep appreciation for community journalism and absolutely love getting to know you guys—the neighbors—and the issues you care about. I’m looking forward to learning the ins and outs of Poway and what the readers want to see up on Patch.
Looking for more event coverage? Let me know! Want to know more about the crimes happening in your town? I’m there. Curious about that copter in the air? Message me on Poway Patch's Facebook and I’ll find out! I care about what Poway cares about.
Feel free to shoot me tips, questions and even rants to melissa.phy@patch.com.
And if you’re really feeling generous, give me some foodie recommendations in the comments. Bonus points if you can leave a stellar suggestion for falafel.
