Monday Essentials: Give Back, Ride a Horse and Volunteer Your Time
It's Monday, but we're encouraging making weekend plans already.

1. An advantage to living in Poway is the space and trails for horses. A local company is offering up various horse camps for the kiddos beginning today.
2. Poway Days Parade is still looking for sponsorships. The Sept. 7 annual parade is looking for generous donors to help continue the tradition. Those wishing to give can visit www.powayparade.org.
3. Looking to give away some of your time for a good cause? Trauma Intervention Programs is looking for Powegians to be trained to help fellow citizens who are in distress as a result of a traumatic event. Training begins in September.
4. If you happened to miss out on the Comic-Con mayhem downtown this weekend, get your fix of it on Patch. We captured Powegians entertaining the crazy, costumed crowds with their guitar skills.
5. Sure, it's only Monday, but there's nothing wrong with planning your weekend already with a campout at Lake Poway. Gather up the family for a Saturday-night sleepover. Register online or call 858-668-4770.Â
