PNEC Public Meeting to Focus on Poway's Emergency Operations Center
City and Homeowner Preparedness for Potential Winter Flooding to Be Addressed in Council Chambers

With the threat of flooding this winter in Poway, there will be a public meeting on Poway’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to explain how it will serve residents at 7 pm, Thursday, January 7, in City Council Chambers on Civic Center Drive.
Organized by the Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps (PNEC), the community presentation will feature Susy Turnbull, Poway’s new Disaster Preparedness Coordinator. She will explain activation triggers for opening the EOC, review emergency communications in emergency situations and discuss Poway’s El Nino Concept of Operations plan. This plan encompasses responses from the sheriff, fire department, public works and sheltering plans within the city.
“I’d like to address some of the preparedness measures people can take themselves to get their homes and properties ready for the coming rain. My goal with this meeting is that community members will leave knowing what the City of Poway has done to be prepared for winter flooding, as well as other disasters,” she said.
The nonprofit Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps works to complement the City of Poway Emergency Operations Plan through a grass roots communication network of neighbors.
