Poway AMC Movie Theater Could Close Permanently
The movie theater chain said it may not survive the coronavirus pandemic.

POWAY, CA — San Diego County could have nine fewer movie theaters when the coronavirus restrictions end.
AMC Theatres said this week it has "substantial doubt" the company can remain in business after the coronavirus pandemic forced the closure of all of its locations.
In a regulatory filing, AMC officials said the company is generating "effectively no revenue."

There are nine AMC locations in San Diego County, including one in Poway. These are the AMC locations in the region:
- AMC Chula Vista 10: 555 Broadway #2050, Chula Vista
- AMC CLASSIC River Village 6: 5256 South Mission Road, Bonsall
- AMC DINE-IN Poway 10: 13475 Poway Road, Poway
- AMC Fashion Valley 18: 7037 Friars Road, San Diego
- AMC Otay Ranch 12: 2015 Birch Road, Chula Vista
- AMC La Jolla 12: 8657 Villa La Jolla Drive, Suite 129, La Jolla
- AMC Mission Valley 20: 1640 Camino Del Rio, San Diego
- AMC Palm Promenade 24: 770 Dennery Road, San Diego
- AMC Plaza Bonita 14: 3050 Plaza Bonita Road, National City
All AMC locations are closed through June, and the company said it has enough money to reopen theaters this summer. However, if not allowed to reopen, the company said, it may be unable to borrow the funds needed to continue operating.

Even when theaters are allowed to reopen, AMC predicts it will still have problems should entertainment companies decide to delay the release of new films.
AMC has 1,000 locations across the globe, with more than 11,000 screens, according to its website.
