AVID Tutors Wanted

• Poway Unified School District is currently looking for AVID tutors for the 2013-2014 school year. The district said ideal candidates will be strong in Math, Science and/or English. Compensation for tutoring is $11 per hour.

• Poway Folk Circle presents Rebecca Stout teaching a beginner's class in the art of percussive dance. The class isn't until Sept. 15 at Old Poway Park, but save a spot for the $15 dance lesson early.

• City Hall is closed today. You can stop by for business next week on Monday between 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

• PowPAC, Poway's Community Theatre will present The Sugar Bean Sisters. General Admission is $18 and seniors/students/military is $15. Showings are 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16 and Saturday, Aug. 17; 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18. 

• It's not too early to plan for the weekend! Summer Movies in the Park will feature a movie showing of Hotel Transylvania. Bring your popcorn and picnic blankets 15 minutes after dusk on Saturday, Aug. 17 to Poway Community Park.
