Volunteers Needed for Girl Empowerment Program

Girls on the Run San Diego is seeking volunteer coaches to help lead teams for their upcoming Fall season!

Girls on the Run San Diego is a 501(c)3 non profit organization that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind!

Over the course of the 10-week season, girls in 3rd-8th grades develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. Trained coaches lead small teams through research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities, and running games. The program culminates with girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k event.
Volunteer Coaches utilize a curriculum to engage teams of girls in fun, interactive lessons twice a week after school for 75 minutes each. Coaches can be male or female and do not need any any prior running/coaching experience -- all volunteers will be given the tools and training they need to be successful! All Coaches must be committed to being a good role model and encourage healthy habits.

Volunteers can choose from two different coaching roles: Head Coaches attend both practices per week, are CPR certified, and handle all team/parent communication. Assistant Coaches are required to attend at least one practice a week for the 10 week season.

The Fall 2018 season will start in September and end with the celebratory 5k on Sunday, December 2nd.
