Firefighters Rescue 2 Cats, Extinguish Apartment Fire In Redlands

No injuries were reported aside from the cats, who were treated with specialized breathing masks and transported to a local veterinarian.

REDLANDS, CA — Redlands firefighters extinguished a blaze in a second-story apartment Monday afternoon, rescuing two cats in the process.

The two small cats, both found inside the apartment, were treated with a special pet oxygen mask at the scene. They were transported to a local veterinarian for further evaluation, with both cats in stable condition.

Firefighters responded to the blaze just before 1 p.m. Monday, on the 1200 block of East Lugonia Avenue. It took them 10 minutes to extinguish the fire, with no other injuries reported. Damage was limited to one apartment, with losses estimated at $40,000.
