Love Waterfalls? California has 2 on This List of Top 5
Looking for a getaway this weekend or for spring break? Check these beautiful photos.
I love waterfalls. Last spring I circled Yosemite Valley repeatedly to take in the spectacle of the free flowing Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Fall, the ethereal Horsetail Fall, Ribbon Fall and more. (Tip: Visit Yosemite National Park in the spring. Waterfalls are gushing at their peak, while crowds are greatly reduced. There were days when we encountered more foreign tourists than Americans.)
A few years ago I drove around Idaho, my then-81-year-old mother my willing companion, as we glimpsed as many waterfalls as I could find on a map that didn’t include long hikes.
Are you with me? Great news—a just released list of the Top 5 Waterfalls in America includes two right here in California.

The top pick is Alamere Falls in Point Reyes National Seashore. Here’s what GrindTV wrote about the falls, “There may be more impressive waterfalls in close proximity, but when it comes to uniqueness, Alamere Falls takes the cake. Even with an eight-mile approach, it’s more accessible than nearby falls and the entire hike in offers beautiful views of the craggy coastline. The reward? A raging waterfall that crashes on to a coarse sand beach and meets up directly with the waves of the Pacific Ocean.”
Yosemite Falls also made the list.
