Magnitude 2.6 Earthquake Strikes Moreno Valley

Many in Riverside County reported feeling the earthquake. Did you?


MORENO VALLEY, CA - A magnitude 2.6 earthquake struck near Moreno Valley early Tuesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake struck at 6:15 a.m. at a depth of 8.2 miles, the USGS reports.

According to the USGS, the quake:

  • 3km (2mi) NNE of Moreno Valley, California
  • 8km (5mi) NE of March Air Reserve Base, California
  • 12km (7mi) SSE of Loma Linda, California
  • 12km (7mi) SSW of Redlands, California
  • 17km (11mi) E of Riverside, California

The earthquake was felt in Riverside, Perris and Lake Elsinore according to the self-reporting USGS “Did you feel it” Web page.
