SCAG to Host Public Workshop in SB to Shape Connect SoCal

The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) will host a public workshop June 11 in San Bernardino to get local input into Connect SoCal, the agency’s 2020-2045 Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy.

The workshop, from 9-11 a.m. in the Historic Santa Fe Depot, 1170 W. 3rd St., is designed to engage residents and stakeholders in the planning and visioning process for the 25-year plan.

“Long-term planning is critical to shaping the future of Southern California – a region of 19 million people, and growing,” said Bill Jahn, President of SCAG. “Connect SoCal will be our most comprehensive region plan to date, but we need the public’s involvement. These workshops will provide insight into where our growth is occurring, and allow participants to provide input on how to keep the region moving in the right direction.”

The SCAG region is one of the fastest-growing population and economic centers in the United States, and is expected to add 4 million people over the next quarter-century.

“Connect SoCal will present a long-range vision that balances future mobility and housing needs with economic, environmental and public health goals,” said Kome Ajise, SCAG’s Executive Director.
