UPDATE: Police Arrest DUI Suspect Following Crash

A Redlands man whose vehicle crashed on Reservoir Road on Wednesday was taken into custody.

A Redlands man was arrested on suspicion that he was driving under the influence after firefighters had to extricated from his overturned vehicle following a crash Wednesday night.

Eric Alan Bean, 37, was behind the wheel of a 2006 Dodge truck west on Reservoir Road on Dec. 18, when he lost control about 9:45 p.m. The vehicle left the road and struck a tree in the front yard of a residence in the 1600 block of Reservoir Road, according to Carl Baker, police department spokesman.

The vehicle came to rest on its side, trapping the driver, Baker said through a news release. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

“It took firefighters using multiple hydraulic rescue tools, including the Jaws of Life about 35 minutes to extricate the driver who sustained moderate injuries and was transported by paramedics to the hospital,” according to Baker.

The tree was uprooted in the accident and came to rest against a light pole and power lines. City and Southern California Edison crews responded and made repairs, Baker wrote.
